Just Spectacular!
so much energy, wonderful music, voices and live orchestra -- audience is really part of the action! Really takes you back to the 60's and 70's - highly recommend that you go and see this!
Wow!
Brilliant production with an exceptional cast, so moving and entertaining. I want to see it again and again!
Good
Enjoyed the show and not disappointed. Of course Efie was wonderful. Some fun comic elements. The sets were a little lackluster. Sometimes hard to understand lyrics. But overall really enjoyed.
Dreamy Show....just not dreamy sound production!
Ever since seeing the original Broadway cast version with Jennifer Holiday playing Effie I have been a devoted fan of the show and it's score. But yesterday's performance left us wishing the sound had matched the level of the talent on the stage. It was often muffled and left several of us leaning in to hear the talent. Several in our group were disappointed with "When I Am Telling You" as the sound director just didn't give her enough mic. She's got a great voice but it needed more power in the amplification. That much was obvious when Effie was collapsing into Curtis's arms when she had the benefit of both her mic and his! Too bad. The song was great but could have been much greater with the right sound level The actor who played James Thunder Early was beyond amazing! His vocal range and vocalization coupled with his lightening fast dance was dazzling and garnered the most audience reaction...literally. Hope to see more of him. All in all a great show and well worth seeing.
Belting out screechy vocals
Music was good but the singing was just screeching songs without a melody that could not be understood.
Very Disappointed
Songs all sounded too much alike and way too screechy to the point of hurting my ears. I was expecting more MoTown format. Sorry that I didn’t know what the show was about at the beginning. If I had, I would have stayed home.
